Actually, I don’t see how marriage is a human right. Marriage is a contract between the state and/or church and you/your property/dependents.
But, if it exists, it should be accessible to all who want it. I just don’t see why this is such a forefront fight (oh, wait, yes I do- the mainstream white, cis, l/g, middle class gay rights movement is trying to mainstream as much as possible). There are many other queer issues and world issues that seem more pressing than aligning with the state as to who and what belongs to you.

Oh and also… it may not be a heterosexual privilege but it is apparently a privilege for couples only right? Poly folks get left out? I suppose that dosen’t count as real love.
Not to mention the blue/pink thing strikes me as pretty binarist and like… gender norm conforming which… eww.
I mean look personally I think marriage is a decently important thing if you’re in a practical place for it and you want it… but first I’d rather not be killed or fired from my job for my sexual orientation…. and even if…. it probably won’t apply to be anyway, not really, because I’m poly and non-binary. I won’t get to but my actual gender on a certificate anyway…

The poly thing bothers me a lot, and it’s been bothering me more and more this past year.
I know I say it often, but seeing those “you have 7 wives, I want 1 husband” signs drives me insane. Stop. Denying. People. Their rights. Lobbying while attacking others is the least effective, and least smart, approach I can think of.
Srsly. If one guy managed to marry several people in the States (hint: he can’t.), friggin’ amazing for him. Stop hating.

I FUCKING HATE THOSE SIGNS TOO! They piss me the fuck off. I’m like ‘what if I was 7 wives and one husband?’ Seriously, don’t fucking use what could potentially be my fucking life, don’t use ME! As a negative example like that. I hate it when the queer community does that too… It seriously feels like getting metaphorically stabbed in the back. Just… betrayal you know. Because I’m queer and poly.
And then people go ‘oh poly marriages shouldn’t be legal, people can abuse them and blah blah blah, unhealthy relationship structure blah blah blah’ and I’m just sitting here like ‘fuck you, straight, couple marriage can get abused too, stright couples can have unhealthy relationship structure, stop trying to make it a unique poly thing because it’s not, you’re full of shit.’
so much anger.

Agree with all of the above.
